The International Disability Management Forum marks history in Asia as it is the first time Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – Crown Jewel of Asia will play host to this great biennial event. IFDM, which is the only global conference dedicated to in-depth discussion of problems, trends, and best practices in Disability Management, is a catalyst in addressing issues of disability on the world stage.
IFDM provides the only forum with delegates from across the globe representing the health, safety, and workers’ compensation communities. A diverse group of employers, workers, risk managers, unions, practitioners, jurisdictional and local government agencies, the insurance industry, policy makers and the public travel to meetings to participate in presentations, discussions, and workshops.
The IFDM features papers on policies, good practices, case studies, universal designs (architectural solutions) and technology as well as a unique forum on the religious perspective of disability.
The Organiser
The Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) of Malaysia was established in 1971 under the Ministry of Human Resources (formerly known as Ministry of Labour) with the aim to administer, enforce and implement the Employees’ Social Security Act, 1969.
SOCSO provides benefits through its Employment Injury Insurance Scheme and the Invalidity Pension Scheme. Among the many functions undertaken by SOCSO is registering employer/employees, collection of employers/employee contributions, processing and disbursing claims made by salaried employees and their dependants. In addition SOCSO also provides physical and vocational rehabilitation benefits to claimants and promotes occupational safety and health awareness.

Tropical climate with warm weather all year round. Temperatures in the lowlands range from 21°C (70°F) to 32°C (90°F). The highlands are cooler, where temperatures range between 15°C (59° F) to 25°C (77°F). Annual rainfall varies from 2,000mm to 2,500mm.
Currency
The unit of currency is Malaysian Ringgit, indicated as ‘RM’. Foreign Exchange Booths are common and clearly state the exchange rate for all major currencies.

Eight hours ahead (+8) of GMT and 16 hours ahead (+16) of U.S. Pacific Standard Time.

Accommodation
Malaysia has a wide range of accommodation at competitive rates. Five-star, medium range, budget hotels, youth hostels, beach chalets, resorts and timeshare apartments are just some of the types of accommodation available.
Visa
Visitors to Malaysia must be in possession of a valid passport or travel document with a minimum validity of six months beyond the period of stay. Most nationalities do not require visas for social or business visits within certain period.
